About Us
FESCO (Federated Energy Services Cooperative, Inc.) is a shared-services organization created to support two member-owned electric cooperatives in Ohio: Lorain-Medina Rural Electric (LMRE) and North Central Electric (NCE). Formed in 1998, FESCO exists so that LMRE and NCE can operate more efficiently by pooling resources, expertise, and strategic direction, while each cooperative continues to serve its own members and communities directly.
Together, LMRE and NCE serve nearly 25,600 meters across 13 counties in Ohio. LMRE serves approximately 16,000 consumers in northeast Ohio, and NCE serves about 9,600 members in north-central Ohio. Both are not-for-profit, member-owned cooperatives, meaning the people who receive electric service are also the owners of the organization providing it. Decisions are made locally, with the long-term interests of members and communities in mind, not outside shareholders.
LMRE and NCE are part of a larger network of electric cooperatives that rely on Buckeye Power and Ohio's Electric Cooperatives (OEC) for generation and transmission services and coordinated advocacy. FESCO helps LMRE and NCE make the most of these relationships while keeping the focus local: safe, reliable, and affordable power for the homes, farms, and businesses across their combined 13-county footprint.
At its core, FESCO reflects the values that have always defined electric cooperatives: members come first, communities matter, and the people who use the power have a real voice in how it's delivered.
